Southsea Badminton Club hosts Mark Hill Memorial Tournament

Published by Owen on

Southsea Badminton Club is hosting an open charity tournament to celebrate the life of local badminton player Mark Hill, who sadly and suddenly passed away in October 2019.

We’re asking the Portsmouth badminton community and beyond to come together and enter teams for the tournament, which will raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The event will include Open, Women’s and Mixed doubles categories and will take place at Wimbledon Park Sports Centre on Saturday 18 November from 9.30am – 5pm.

The cost to enter the tournament is £20 per player. This is calculated as a £10 tournament entry fee and a £10 category fee (i.e. Open, Women’s or Mixed). If you’d like to enter a second or third category, it is an additional £10 per category.

Each player should sign up through Eventbrite individually, but please remember to let us know who you’d like to partner with.

Help us fundraise

Regardless of whether you’re able to play, you can help us fundraise by donating through JustGiving.

Thank yous

Southsea Badminton Club is paying for all shuttles used on the day, and donating our committee member volunteer time to make the tournament happen. All proceeds after paying for court costs will also be donated to British Heart Foundation through JustGiving.

Our thanks also go to:

BH Live and Portsmouth City Council – for agreeing a charitable hire rate for the hall

MRM Speaking and Lighting Hire – for donating use of a PA on the day

Goulds Jewellers – for donating the trophies and medals to be awarded for the events

This support means we’re able to maximise the amount of money going to charity – thank you!
