Choosing your Committee

Published by Lianne on

At our upcoming AGM, our Members will be choosing their Committee for the coming season. Here we explain why this is an important decision and how Members can get involved.

What does the Committee do?

The Club Committee is a group of volunteers elected by Members of the Club to run the Club on their behalf.

Their responsibilities include running club nights, appointing team captains to field teams in the league, promoting the club and communicating with players, finance and governance, organisation and meetings that make a successful and safe sports club happen.

What posts are being elected to?

For the 2019/20 season people will be elected into the below listed positions, alongside links for their job descriptions.

  • Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Communications & Socials Officer
  • League Officer
  • Welfare Officer

Full lists of responsibilities are set out within section 3 of the constitution, a refreshed version of which is here.

How do I stand for a position on the Committee?

Anyone wishing to put themselves forward should identify themselves during the section of the AGM introducing the committee candidates. They will have up to two minutes to make their pitch to fellow members, and will be subject to a Q&A session from other members, should they have any questions. The AGM will be run as per section 4.3 of the constitution.
