Mark Hill Memorial Tournament 2020

Join us for a charity badminton tournament on Saturday 30 May to celebrate the life of Mark Hill – and raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

We’re calling on all in the local badminton community to come together on what would have been Mark’s birthday weekend to play the sport he loved, and raise money for a charity close to his family’s hearts.

Entries will cost £15 per person for with Men’s or Women’s Doubles, and an extra £5 for a fun mixed handicapped event. All proceeds after costs will go to charity.

Southsea Badminton Club’s committee has decided to fully sponsor the mixed event in Mark’s memory, and pay for all court and shuttle costs – so 100% of entry fees from that event will go to charity.

All from the local badminton community welcome.

Tournament format

Men’s and Women’s Doubles

Entries to the Men’s and Women’s Doubles will cost £15 per person. Pairs will be organised into groups, with group winners progressing to knock out stages. The winners will each win a medal.

Mixed handicapped event

For just £5 extra you can enter the fun handicapped event, which will take place in the afternoon after the main doubles events. The costs for this mixed event will be fully sponsored by Southsea Badminton Club, so that 100% of the entry fees will go to charity.

Players enter as individuals, and will be paired with a mystery player of any gender by SBC coaches, to create as even pairings as possible across the event. The winning pair will each win a medal.

We hope this inclusive, fun format captures Mark’s positive spirit and the joy he brought to the sport.
