League News

For those that may have missed the January club update, in order to provide more court time on Monday club nights we are actively looking to rearrange all our home games to a different week night.

As always, all fixture changes will be reflected on our League Match Calendar, or on the PHBA website.

SBC Mens 1

SBC Mens 1 finished 2018 with their first match against PCBA Mens 1 – the team fought extremely hard and many of the games could have swung either way. The team have now played each of teams within the League and are looking forward to playing each of them again in early part of 2019!

SBC Mens 2

At the end of 2018 there was only a few points separating the Division 3 teams in 2nd, 3rd and 4th; having drawn 7-7 against a solid University of Portsmouth Men’s 1 team back in December, the team did a great job coming into 2019 to claim a 10-3 win over the team.

The SBC Men’s 2 team now sit in 2nd and the additional points gained have provided a comfortable separation between 3rd and 4th – here’s hoping they can maintain the gap.

SBC Women

The SBC Women’s team finished the year with another extremely tough fight against an ever strong Portsmouth Ladies team. They got a hard fought draw against Shot Choice, an improvement on the last time they played.

Having had a few new additions to the team in 2019, the team are hopeful that they can come back fighting toward the back end of this season.

The team now have a few weeks rest before their next fixture against Gosport Borough – the fixture will be at Home, so the team are hoping that the home advantage can help them pick up a few extra points.

Team Spotlight

For the month of January we’d like to recognise the Southsea Women’s team in their recent match against the Shot Choice Ladies team. The SBC team, made up of Emily Wentworth, Lauren Thomas, Caitlin Horner and Lianne de Mello played incredibly well against the experienced Shot Choice team and picked up 7 games securing a well deserved draw!

Team captain Lianne was extremely impressed with how well the team maintained their sportsmanship and positivity throughout and hopes the team take their performances forward into their future games!
