Club nights suspended until further notice

Published by Lianne on

In light of the COVID-19 situation, we are suspending all SBC Club Nights until further notice as of Monday 16 March.

The club’s committee has been monitoring the rapidly evolving situation, and monitoring updates from the government and public health authorities.

Although the current advice is currently to continue as normal, and sports centres largely remain operational, we expect this may change in the coming weeks and wanted to give our players as much notice as possible by making an early, precautionary decision.

All SBC club nights and matches are currently suspended until further notice.

Though having to take a break from our sport is disappointing for us all, we want to keep our volunteers, our players, and their families and colleagues as healthy for as long as possible.

Please do remind yourself of the current NHS advice on coronavirus, stay safe, and be kind to one another at this difficult time.

FAQs

When will club nights return?

The short answer is, we don’t know – it may be weeks, or longer. We will be reviewing the situation over the coming weeks and make a decision in accordance with advice from the Government and our host venue, Wimbledon Park Sports Centre.

As always we will use our primary communication channels – WhatsApp, Facebook and our website – to keep players up to date, so keep an eye out there for an announcement.

What about league matches?

The league we enter our teams into, the Portsmouth & Havant Badminton Association, has suspended the rest of the season effective from midnight on Sunday 15 March. All planned matches are currently cancelled until further notice, and the committee is considering next steps.
